Here you can see well what I mean by erosion threatening the vegetation in Iceland:

A few days ago, on 24 April, it was once again quite stormy on the south coast, in the area where the Fellsmörk project is located. From the large sandy areas of Mýrdalssandur and Meðallandssandur in southeast Iceland, it blows the earth several hundred kilometres out into the Atlantic, as you can see in this satellite photo from NASA. Not at all unusual in Iceland, says geologist Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir from the University of Iceland, reports mbl.is.
